The contemporary monodrama Crocodile, directed by Ana Grigorović, premiered successfully on 12 February 2026 at the Evening Stage of Malo pozorište “Duško Radović” in Belgrade. The performance, produced by Opera Lab in co-production with Malo pozorište “Duško Radović”, was presented to a full audience and warmly received by the public.
Based on the award-winning play by Elize Vilk, Crocodile was performed for the first time in Serbian. The monodrama follows the story of David, an eleven-year-old boy confronting loneliness, loss, and the challenges of growing up in a world that often leaves little space for difference.
Through a powerful and emotionally nuanced performance by Đorđe Živadinović Grgur, the production brings the audience into the inner world of a young person struggling to understand identity, belonging, and the pressures of social expectations.
The performance combines theatre, movement, sound, and visual elements to create an intimate stage experience that addresses themes of bullying, isolation, and the importance of empathy and support for young people who feel different or excluded.
The creative team behind the production includes scenographer Dunja Kostić, composer Matija Anđelković, sound designer Dragan Stevanović Bagzi, and choreography and stage movement by Đorđe Živadinović Grgur, with professional support from andragogue Maja Maksimović and psychologist Mirjana Marković.
The project is a co-production between Opera Lab and Malo pozorište “Duško Radović” and is supported by the Regional Youth Cooperation Office (RYCO) – WB Youth Cultural Fund, contributing to regional collaboration and dialogue through contemporary performing arts.
The premiere marked an important moment for the project, opening a space for discussion about identity, difference, and the responsibility of communities toward young people.
